With the aim of increasing the quality, rigor and usefulness of sustainability reports , the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) was established in 1997 as a joint initiative of two non-governmental organizations . Representatives of companies, non-profit advisory organizations, unions and auditing companies have contributed to the development.
The GRI is an international non-governmental France Mobile Number List organization that promotes Sustainability Reports as a tool for planning, measuring, evaluating and communicating progress and impacts on social, economic and environmental aspects of an organization.
Currently more than 300 companies from all sectors have applied the Guide for preparing Sustainability Reports prepared by the GRI. They evaluate the three nuances of the company's sustainability, or what is called the triple botton line, triple bottom line, based on a continuous dialogue with stakeholders.
Since the creation of the GRI, the global trends that led to it have continued to increase interest in everything related to corporate social responsibility. Refers to:
The expansion of globalization, with large multinational companies ruling the international market and indirectly influencing the government of nations.
The search for new forms of global government, so that there is greater transparency in the complex business structure, in a location in different geographical areas with also disparate regulatory frameworks.
The reform of the corporate management system, which depends on access to relevant and quality information that allows companies to be monitored and drives the commitment of interested parties and not just investors.
The global role of emerging economies means that the practice of this responsible management extends to all places, the increase in the notoriety of organizations and their expectations causes clients and consumers to have more information and faster access to it, with respect to sustainable development.
Measuring progress towards sustainable development creates the need to develop performance indicators related to sustainability.
Government interest in sustainability reports through legal or voluntary initiatives.
